1. Overview and scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the StudyKitab Android application and the StudyKitab website. “StudyKitab,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the StudyKitab service.
This policy does not replace the privacy notices of third-party services you choose to use, such as Google Sign-In.
2. Information we handle
Account and profile information
When you create or use an account, we handle your email address, authentication identifier, and—when provided—your name, university, department and registration number. If you use Google Sign-In, Google provides basic identity information such as your name and email address. Password authentication is handled by our authentication provider; StudyKitab does not store your password in readable form.
Study and generation content
We handle the text, questions, topics, notes, extracted document text, output preferences and instructions you submit to create an assignment, lesson or quiz. Generated content and request status may be held temporarily so the app can recover an interrupted request.
Usage and service-operation data
We record generation counts, request status, timestamps, account tier, rewarded-ad credits and aggregated model usage. These records help enforce daily limits, prevent duplicate requests, operate the service and diagnose failures.
Advertising data
When advertising is enabled and an ad is requested, Google AdMob may process device or advertising identifiers, IP address, app interactions and ad engagement in accordance with Google’s policies and your device or consent settings.
Network and security data
Cloud and security providers may automatically process IP address, request metadata and security signals to deliver requests, prevent abuse and protect the service.
3. Information kept on your device
StudyKitab extracts text from supported PDFs, images, TXT, DOCX and PPTX files on your Android device. The original source file is not uploaded to the generation service. Extracted text is transmitted only when you ask StudyKitab to generate content.
PDF rendering and editing, lesson text-to-speech, saved lessons, saved quizzes, exported PDFs, preferences and cached sign-in information are handled locally. Local items remain until you delete them, clear app data or uninstall the app. Files you export to Downloads may remain after uninstalling.
4. Why we use information
- Authenticate users and maintain account sessions.
- Create assignments, lessons, quizzes and related study material.
- Populate assignment title pages from profile information you provide.
- Apply generation limits, pro allowances and rewarded-ad credits.
- Restore in-progress generation requests and resolve failures.
- Provide support, secure the service and prevent misuse.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information.
5. Service providers and disclosures
We use specialized providers only where needed to operate StudyKitab:
- Supabase for authentication and database services.
- Cloudflare for API hosting, delivery, security and operational processing.
- Groq and supported AI model providers to generate the content you request from submitted text.
- Google for optional Google Sign-In and, when enabled, AdMob advertising.
- Brevo for transactional account emails such as verification codes.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not authorize AI providers to use your content for StudyKitab’s own advertising.
6. Retention
- Temporary assignment request documents and submission records are scheduled for deletion after approximately 48 hours.
- Daily allowance records are generally retained for up to 35 days.
- Per-user assignment activity used for operational reporting is generally retained for up to 90 days.
- Aggregated launch and model-usage metrics are generally retained for up to 180 days.
- Account, profile, tier and reward records are retained while your account is active and deleted or anonymized when your account is deleted, except where limited retention is necessary for security, fraud prevention or legal obligations.
- Local content is controlled by you and remains on the device until removed.
Backups and provider logs may take additional time to expire under provider retention schedules.
7. Security
StudyKitab uses encrypted HTTPS connections, authentication tokens, restricted database access and service-side authorization controls. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so you should avoid submitting unnecessary highly sensitive information and protect your device and account credentials.
8. Your choices and rights
You can edit profile information in the app, remove locally saved work, sign out, control advertising settings through your device and request access, correction or deletion of server-held information. To delete your account, use our account deletion page.
Requests may require identity verification. Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights. Contact us and we will respond as required by applicable law.
9. Children
StudyKitab is intended for secondary, college and university-level study and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate authorization. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided information should contact us.
10. International processing
Our providers may process information in countries other than your own. We rely on provider safeguards and applicable legal mechanisms for those transfers.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when StudyKitab’s features, providers or legal obligations change. We will change the date above and provide additional notice in the app when a change materially affects users.
